If you work regularly with the material covered on the exam or if you have considerable background or experience with the exam material, you may be able to follow an accelerated study program. Some students simply find their study is more focused and efficient by using an accelerated approach. We do not recommend this method as appropriate for everyone.
One way to accelerate your study of the course material is to begin by assessing what you already know and then to focus on the material you need to learn. You can begin your assessment by using the application questions in the comprehensive review books as a test of your level of knowledge. If you score 75% on the questions, you can move on to the next topic. If you do not score 75% on a section, you can identify the areas you need to spend more time studying by looking at the questions you missed. Go back to the text to read those areas that need additional study. You can return later to the application questions and answer the questions again. Skip around in the questions to be sure you are learning and not memorizing. When you score 75%, move on to the next section.
If you are very short of time and do not score 75% on each assignment, do not panic. Even if your scores are below 65% on an assignment, you should try to complete the application questions at least once for each section before taking the CFP® Certification Examination. Be sure to leave time to take the Simulated Examination before the actual CFP® Certification Examination.
